Michelle's chandeliers

BOO to party crashers, but YAY for the super gorgeous, ecologically conscious chandeliers at the White House State Dinner!! The New York Times reports that the new florist, Laura Dowling, dressed the tented outdoor dining room with locally grown, sustainably harvested magnolia branches and ivy.

Pom pom tom

So Pom Pom Tom is one of my favorite crafts ever. He does take a little bit of time and lots of yarn though, so be ready. I have some notes on Martha's instructions:

1. just buy cheap yarn, because you will use a ton.
2. you don't really need a pom pom maker, just wrap the yarn around an appropriate size piece of cardboard.
2. i have no idea how she got her PPT to stand up because the yarn and felt ended up being really heavy and my PPT were too unbalanced for their little pipe cleaner legs. maybe i should have made the feet bigger! or... i will just glue them to the tablecloth.

TY's

I made two new sets of thank you notes last week.

I bought this stamp set with the "thank you" and "to" stamps at Greer. Really useful and vintagy-cute!

Hardhats required

This little boy's construction themed party is adorable and I am so impressed with the amazing attention to detail. Hard hats, orange cones, sand table, trucks and tool cookies. They even hired a local landscaper to drop by with his backhoe loader. Nice touch.

Cutie pie

Congrats to my friend Maxine on her new baby girl! Hope she gets to wear her outfit soon. Its too cute not to post. Knit jumper and pointelle onsie by Baby Gap. Hat by me. I added a teensy bit of pink to her outfit, of course.

Pretty parasols

Green Wedding Shoes had a great post yesterday about what bridesmaids could carry instead of flowers. For our wedding, I had seriously considered clutches, just to give us more of that dinner party feel, but went with the more traditional flowers in the end. For an outdoor wedding, these parasols are so pretty and appropriate. Practical too!

Before & after

Before
After

Love this before and after on Design*Sponge. I adore that they increased the space by removing the cabinets and adding the shelves, it is a little bit counterintuitive. White with black brackets was genius with the little splash of soft green. The chalkboard fridge is cool and, as usual, I love the chandelier.

Wild at heart

Wild at Heart looks like just the sort of shop I'd love, sleek, glamorous and filled with pretty flowers. And reclaimed Victorian baths. Unfortunately for me its a little bit of a trek. Londoners, we are going the next time I'm in town.

Martin + Osa

I had never had much luck at Martin and Osa until this fall but all of a sudden I am loving their assortment. I was at their store in September and picked up this and this. Their recent mailer makes me feel like I need to go back! Really into the white/grey/cream palette.
This may be my alternative to this season's leather jacket.

Irate turkey

Thanksgiving card from the turkey's perspective. From
Greer. This card would make a funny coaster.
