Vintage blue xmas table

House Beautiful gave 15 designers basic white Pottery Barn white place settings as a base to create a holiday table. My favorite was this one. The whites mixed with the vintage blue and creamy lace is so soft and yummy. See the rest of the tables here.

Winter table

Neutral, natural and soft. Kind of dreamy.
I'll be posting more holiday tables all the way up to christmas. Hope you will be as inspired as I am!

DIY gold leaf garland

I want to do this! I wonder how long it will take for mine to be a nice long garland to hang over the mirror above our fireplace. I also like the idea of the leaves as place cards. I did a version of my own a few years ago and painted actual fallen leaves gold for Thanksgiving dinner at my parents. They were a little bit hard to write on. This conveniently does not involve having to search the backyard for 14 perfect dry leaves with no holes or wilting. Instructions here.

Turkey cookies and pilgrim cupcakes

Too cute. For more adorable, edible genius check out the entire Thanksgiving dessert buffet by Amy Atlas.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!! If you have as many questions about your turkey as we do, check out the Epicurious Turkey Primer. Am finding it helpful.

Pom pom tom

So Pom Pom Tom is one of my favorite crafts ever. He does take a little bit of time and lots of yarn though, so be ready. I have some notes on Martha's instructions:

1. just buy cheap yarn, because you will use a ton.
2. you don't really need a pom pom maker, just wrap the yarn around an appropriate size piece of cardboard.
2. i have no idea how she got her PPT to stand up because the yarn and felt ended up being really heavy and my PPT were too unbalanced for their little pipe cleaner legs. maybe i should have made the feet bigger! or... i will just glue them to the tablecloth.

Recipe card

Well, its just about Halloween, so of course, I am now thinking about Christmas cards. I feel like I'm a little early, but if I don't do it right now, all of a sudden its Christmas Eve and I end up sending out Happy New Year cards. Or like 3 years ago when I sent out Valentine cards. So here I am and look what I found on Minted. Such great card and it can be done and ordered online. I can put in my fave recipe holiday recipe and fave photo from this year. So hard to choose...

ok, update, was cruising Minted some more and I also really like
this one. And this one is pretty cute too.

Velvet Pumpkins

I know its only July and I am getting ahead of myself, but wouldn't Ink & Peat's velvet pumpkins be excellent place-card holders/table decor for Thanksgiving dinner? Ever since we made all of our guests Martha Stewarts's Pom-Pom Tom, its been hard to repeat the excitement over our table!
