lovely simple table

Really like the pretty and neutral table setting here, via once wed today. Twine, burlap, kraft paper and wood, accented by white china and simple, twiggy florals. This would be a lovely setting for a cosy dinner party. The kraft paper here was used for seating assignments, but would be a great place to write out a menu for a more informal party.

Sneak peek

My brother is getting married tomorrow so we are having a rehearsal dinner and welcome party tonight, hosted by my family. I made some paper accessories, can't wait to see how they look on the tables!

Numbered napkins

Really fun at home, or what about instead of table numbers for a party? it only works if you have 10 tables (or fewer), but what a cute way to let your guests know where to sit! Heather Lins Home via Snippet & Ink.

Summer BBQ at the cottage

I am so in love with this fabulous dinner party thrown as the kick-off to my friend Missy's weekend-long family celebration in Mattapoisett, Mass. The family came in from all over to celebrate the baptism of Missy's sister's youngest daughter and, wow, did these parents put on a beautiful party! The menus and invites were printed on maplewood which coordinated back to wood plates and utensils as well as the maplewood smoked meats that were served for dinner. The chic long table has a great natural sea-inspired feel with an abundance of organic materials and pretty, muted water colors. Missy's sister arranged the blue hydrangeas from the garden in clay pots herself. The food was prepared by a chef friend, Wayne Gibson, from South Coast Local in Mattapoisett. And to top it all off, handmade milkshakes and fireworks! Ahhhh, this is what summer looks like. Congratulations to Ivy and her parents on her baptism and a perfect weekend.

Illuminated

I love the masses of candles on this long wedding table. Romantic and gorgeously summery outside in the dark with a glowing centerpiece. Its the kind of lighting that makes everyone look so glam and pretty. From 100 layer cake.

Josie's tea party

My friend Kara put together the cutest tea party themed 2nd birthday party for her youngest daughter Josie. So sweet! As always, I heart paper poms.

More picnic party

There are so many things I love about this table, starting with the big, fluffy pillows as seating. From frolic.

Farmer's market baskets

I love these bone china farmer's market baskets from Jayson Home & Garden. I could see them with lemons, limes and tomatoes to brighten up a table or as pictured with summer berries.

Saturday supper at home

From Saturday evening, the full menu:

Butter Lettuce and Sun-dried Tomatoes
with cucumbers, country croutons and mustard vinaigrette

with wild mushrooms

Peppercorn Crusted Beef Tenderloin
with a side of broccolini and mozzarella

Fresh Berry Shortcake
with organic whipped cream

I used pickle jars to make the flowers the right height for talking over and our guests did a great job of keeping us entertained all night.

Ruffles

I love the ruffle "theme" to this table. The table skirt, serving dishes, plates and even the flowers all have a sweet ruffled edge.

Rustic spring

Snippet and Ink has a gorgeous inspiration board up today of rustic white wedding elements with spring details like branches with blooms and nests with eggs. Besides the gorgeous bouquet, I especially like the image of the table all dressed up with tall elegant candles in the barn with a horse peeking out of his stall.

Up in the air

Little boys who love planes would LOVE this party by event planner Amy Atlas (for her own son). How smart is the runway as a runner down the middle of the table? I am also a fan of the use of blue and orange, unexpected but still very boy oriented and a nice fresh color combo. More pics here.

Sparkly stars

This setting is from Martha's latest wedding issue, but wouldn't it be a great New year's table? Love it either way. Paper lanterns here.
